A member of 240 Project in west London, Maurice took this photo of Rene who goes to the day centre for people who are isolated or excluded. “She’s very committed to her art. I wanted to capture some of the contemplation and commitment in her art. She’s a very good collage artist.”

Maurice says he would like to continue in photography and make progress with digital photography. “I’ve done a lot of fi lm but digital gives diff erent types of eff ects.” He says he would like to start a blog and to put his pictures on social media. “A blog, like a diary, with pictures that can be interesting in themselves but also they comment on your local area. I do like portraiture but it can be a difficult area. I also like abstracts: it’s about capturing the shapes that people live in, the geometry of the world that people live in, I like to capture how geometric the world is.”
