Alzira Viana
Alzira heard about us when MYWORLD founder Paul Ryan was interviewed on BBC London so she ordered a calendar online. Although she was homeless many years ago she decided to participate in the MYLONDON contest to pay tribute to her late sister who was homeless with her. Alzira donates her 50% income from card sales back to the charity.
Alzira Viana and her sister Bree became homeless as teenagers when an unscrupulous landlady took all their rent money. She explains how Bree worked in the area near where she took this photo but passed away from cancer in May 2022. "She loved working there. She especially expressed an affection for the Shard." Alzira said she didn't know the area herself and only explored is after Bree had passed away. She saw "the brown building", (formerly a church and now The Old Operating Theatre), " contrasting with the Shard: old and new." She took the photo as a tribute to her sister.
