K2 TelephoneBoxes, Covent Garden. This row of traditional phone boxes is in Broad Court, in the Covent Garden area of Westminster. The K2 Telephone Box was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and first appeared in 1926. In the following nine years some 1,700 were installed in the UK, mostly in London. Just over 200 remain on British streets. Zakia Chowdhury said she chose to photograph the telephone boxes because they are “an eminent symbol of London architecture.”
