David Fussell

David Fussell says that this shot actually shows a bench he slept on when he was sleeping rough. The phone boxes can be found near UCL, Bloomsbury, near Tottenham Court Road and Euston Road.

David Fussell says he was waiting to get a shot of a bird or a plane when this view presented itself. “Right in front of me was a frame within a frame within a frame.” David, who slept rough until early 2020, used to be a film maker. “After my home flooded, I lost the property. I came back to London from Essex. To me London is home. I have had two photographs in the MyLondon calendar over the years. This has given me a chance to [join the Café Art RPS photography mentoring group]. Last year I made enough money by selling the calendar to get a powerful computer and a Canon DSLR camera. I have helped Vice media film The Challenges of Being Homeless During a Pandemic. Half the footage was shot by myself. My feature film Mystic Demon Killer is selling well and I am building up an income so I can be independent and live on a secondhand cabin cruiser on the canal.”
